What grades of Aluminum are you capable of machining?
2011, 2024, 6061, 6262 and 7075 are the common grades. Any questions? Just ask our sales staff.

Do you do anodizing and offer hard coat services?
Yes, through approved third-party coating specialists.

Do you offer assembly for aluminum-related components?
Yes, we install O-rings, sub-assembly, etc.

To you provide lot availability?
Yes.

Our facility focuses on steel work in the automotive, automotive performance and automotive aftermarket areas, along with fasteners, construction and pump manufacturing fields. Other areas of expertise include military systems, material handling, conveyor systems, RV and ATV markets, porting, and manifolds from pneumatic breathing machinery in the fittings, valves, assembly, cylinder component, distribution manifold and tube bending areas, among others. Steel FAQ

What grades are you capable of machining?
Many, many different grades including 12L14, 1215, 1018, 1137, 11L37, 1144, 11L44, 1045, 1035, 8620, 86L20, stressproof, 3140, 41L40, 4340, 4130 and fatigue proof. If you have a question about a grade, just ask our sales staff.

What is the best grade of steel used on a screw machine to achieve the best price possible?
12L14 (leaded) or 1215 (non-leaded).

Can you plate, heat-treat, braze, weld, black oxidize, etc. my order?
Yes, we can do those things through our approved secondary vendors.

Do you do barrel and rack plating?
Yes, we do, but it has to be specified and quoted accordingly.

Do you provide lot availability?
Yes.

Do you process brass components?
Yes, but Elkins is not a mutually exclusive brass house.

Are you capable of nickel-plating brass components?
Yes, Elkins accomplishes that should approved third-party coating specialists.

What grades of brass does Elkins machine?
360, copper, bronze and Tellurium. Check with our sales staff.

Is brass corrosion resistant?
Yes.

Does brass conduct electricity?

Stainless Steel FAQ

What grades are you capable of machining?
300 and 400 series are the most common. However, we can machine others upon request. Elkins’ specializes in stainless steel work and has many year of experience working with it.

Do you do brazing and/or welding?
Yes. We do it through approved secondary vendors and opt for the furnace v. the torch technique.

Why should we have Elkins do our stainless steel work?
Because Elkins is economical and offers plenty of experience in machining the material – in fact, we specialize in stainless steel work.

Does Elkins provide part with rolled or cut thread?
Elkins can provide either one, per your specifications.

Does Elkins buy only domestic stainless steel?
No. We work with both domestic and foreign stainless steel. We meet Defense Acquisition Regulations Systems (DAFRS) standards on customer request.

Do you provide lot availability?
Yes.

Plastics

Elkins Machine & Tool offers over four decades in specialized service. Elkins’ work in plastics has primarily served the valve industry, in addition to work in fasteners, Marine components, automation, conveyor systems, material handling and medical in the areas of fittings, valves, assembly, cylinder component, distribution manifold and tube bending areas, among others. Much of the company’s plastics’ work has been used in safety systems.

Nylon, Delrin, Acetron, Teflon, glass-filled Teflon, Nylatron and Torlon are common grades. Others upon request – just ask our sales staff for details.

Can you run plastic on a screw machine?
